Weekend Fun 5/15 – 5/17

By Danit

We’re hoping to start a weekend recap section very soon and we need your help! If you’re attending any of the events we’ve posted here, we’d love if you could take some pictures and send them to us. We can only be in so many places at once, and we would like to see all your beautiful faces having fun out and about in LA!

Friday

margarita-glass-photo-smallEn La Noche Party @ MOLAA- The Museum of Latina American Art in Long Beach is hosting a lovely event this Friday Night and admission is only $5! Your admission includes access to the museum from 6-8:30pm, complimentary happy hour from 6-7:30pm, music from 7-9pm, and a salsa class from 8:30-9:30pm. $1 chicken tacos will be on sale all night. And if the hour -long open bar wasn’t enough for you…they’re selling $3 margaritas all evening!
Cost: $5

Who’s Available Tuesday Nights: We were going to wait to tell you about this show, which usually takes place every Tuesday night (duh), but you got extra lucky because they are holding a special Friday Night show as part of M.i.’s Westside Comedy Theater’s launch weekend. Who’s Available includes sketch, standup, video, and character work from some of the most exciting young comedians in LA! Tickets for this special event are $10, but if you RSVP “attending” on their Facebook event page, they’ll only charge you $5! It starts at 10pm, and the best part…admission includes free beer during the show!
Cost: $5 (with RSVP on Facebook)

Saturday

sidewalkchalksailboatartChalk in The Park: West Hollywood is inviting everyone out to decorate the sidewalks at Plummer park this weekend from 11am – 4pm. The city will be providing the chalk and a goodie bag for the first 100 people who “sign up” to enter the chalk art contest. We don’t really know what they mean by “sign up” (they didn’t respond to our emails) but we’re hoping they mean first 100 people to SHOW up get goodie bags!  There will also be food, prizes, raffles, face painting, and entertainment!
Cost: FREE.

All Weekend

Guacamole Festival: Check out the Guacamole Festival in Lincoln Heights this weekend to celebrate all things avocado! There will be carnival rides, free health screenings, live music, and of course… avocado burgers, guacamole, avocado sandwiches, etc. Check out full details on our original post.
Cost: FREE.

NBA Nation & T-Mobile Party: Come by this fun event at Universal City to win some prizes and hang out with NBA stars. T-Mobile customers get special VIP treatment; haven’t you always wanted to be a VIP?? Paul and I will be working the event… that should be your top reason for going, obviously. More info at our original post.
Cost: FREE.

2006-04-27_strawberriesCalifornia Strawberry Festival: Just when we thought a guacamole festival was a dream come true, LA has to pull out the strawberry festival and really mess with our heads. We’re working all weekend so we can’t attend…but if you happen to go send us pictures so we can live vicariously through you (not kidding)!! The festival is a little far but well worth the trip out to Oxnard. There will be strawberry-themed crafts, workshops, and entertainment. You’ll also get to experience every strawberry inspired food/drink imaginable…we’re talking strawberry nachos, strawberry beer, and strawberry flan! We highly recommend using their free park-n-ride “strawberry express” shuttle to save a few bucks (onsite parking is $5). Thanks to Tiffany for sending this over!
Cost: $12 for adults, $5 for Kids
