Weekend Fun 8/21 – 8/23
Friday
Pancakes & Booze - Music! Art! Booze! UNLIMITED PANCAKES! Enjoy all this and more at the 4th Pancakes & Booze celebration at Loft 4300. The $5 cover gets you access to everything except for the booze, but they promise there will be “cheap ass drinks”, which works for us! Not to mention parking is free… which is hard to come by on a Friday Night.
Cost: FREE
Dance Downtown – Take some free beginner dance classes in Argentine Tango and then show off your stuff to the music of The Los Angeles Tango Ensemble. The event takes place at Music Center Plaza in Downtown from 6:30pm – 10pm.
Cost: FREE
Saturday
Derby Dolls Job Fair - The rough and tumble girls of The L.A. Derby Dolls are making sure all you ladies are able to pay the bills. Not only will there be recruiters and employers in attendance but there will also be lots of career advice, legal services, and breakfast and lunch. The best part is it’s all free! Check out their website for a list of the exhibitors and to RSVP for workshops.
Cost: FREE
Japanese Festival – Celebrate Japanese culture with SPLASH 2009! Okay so most of the website may be in Japanese, but that is no reason to fret. This 21+ summer festival will take place at Gonpachi in Beverly Hills and give you the chance to taste Japanese food, premium sake, and enjoy music too. The event is free if you get there before 10pm (it starts at 9pm) with RSVP. You’ll probably want to get there early anyways to take in all the free sake and delicious food-it’s only free until midnight! I’m pretty psyched about this one…
Opening at Jeanie Madsen - Visit the Jeanie Madsen Gallery on Saturday evening to check out their new exhibit, which features portraits of some of Hollywood’s biggest icons. They will be serving free appetizers and drinks during the reception.
Cost: FREE
Sunday
Unique LA Mini Market – Check out this market for a great opportunity to get some early holiday shopping out of the way while supporting local designers, or just enjoy the music and the free beverages!
Cost: FREE
All Weekend
Sunset Junction – Silverlake is having their 29th Annual Sunset Junction Street Festival! They’ll be shutting down sections of Sunset Blvd. and Santa Monica Blvd. to make room for vendors, arts and crafts, rides, games, and a whole bunch of live music. The event runs 11am – 11pm on Saturday and 11am – 10pm on Sunday.
Cost: FREE *Update* They’re actually not free. $20. LAME.

hmm… why does this say sunset junction is free =]
Cause we failed. Thank you for the update, they should really make the prices clear on the flyer though, came across as a free event….
Thanks again!
