The Feast of San Gennaro

By Paul

sangennaroAll this weekend is The Precious Cheese Feast of San Gennaro. I’m not really sure what makes the cheese precious but there’s a festival involved.

Every year the Italian-American community get together to celebrate the feast day of San Gennaro, the patron saint of Naples, with a big festival and everyone’s invited! There will be live music, street performers, wine and food tasting, a cooking stage, bocce courts, and bingo. Tickets are only $5 (or free for anyone under 12) and all the proceeds go to help children and families in need around Los Angeles.

It all starts tonight with the Prima Notte Gala hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Carolla featuring musical guests and perfomers as well as an all you can eat feast. Tickets for the opening Gala, however start at $50 so I doubt there will be any LA Decostified readers there. But if you do go, let us know how it is.

The Festival runs from 11am – 11pm Friday through Sunday on Highland Blvd. at Hawthorne street. As always, check their Website for more information.
