Lost Coast Tangerine Wheat and Arrogant Bastard, both very delicious

When I first turned 21 my roommate and I decided that every week we would split a different mixed 12 pack of beer. Though I was a beer snob before this, I’m certainly a more knowledgeable one because of it. So when I moved to California I immediately fell in love with Barney’s Beanery. Even though I lived in the valley, it seemed every weekend I was making the trek into West Hollywood to get a pint of Arrogant Bastard on tap, or to try a bottle of an import I had never heard of. While I no longer have the money to be going out every weekend I can still get my Arrogant Bastard thanks to Barney’s Beanery’s Happy Hour.

The original Barney’s Beanery in West Hollywood began as a stopping point for people traveling down Route 66 and became a hangout for celebrities, artists, and musicians. Now with three more locations in Pasadena, Santa Monica, and most recently, Downtown Burbank Barney’s is a great place to hang out and watch a game with friends in a relaxed down home bar atmosphere. We went to the Burbank location which is in my opinion the place to go to watch your team play no matter where you’re from. No matter what the sport, no matter what the team, if there’s a game on you can watch it at Barney’s. The Burbank location even has stadium seating in front of a screen, small TVs at every booth, and XBox and Wii with couches set up in front of big screens on the other side. Guitar hero anyone?

While most bars have $2 bud light, Barney’s gives you a beautiful selection of 22 Domestic Drafts and 18 Imported Drafts to choose from. The half priced appetizers are some of the best greasy bar food I’ve had and they’re a pretty good size. I’ve never had a bad server, a bad meal, or a bad beer at Barney’s and this Happy Hour makes it that much sweeter.

ABBA Sing-A-Long at Disney Concert Hall – If you’re an ABBA fan (and who isn’t?) you can’t miss the ABBA Sing-A-Long at the Disney Concert hall. Sheet music is provided so you can belt out your favorite ABBA songs along with a live band and thousands of other ABBA fans like you! Tickets go on “sale” 45 minutes before the event and they’re absolutely free. Get there early because there’s only so many free tickets to give out!

Saturdays Off the 405 –  Fridays off the 405 has become Saturdays off the 405! Every Saturday throughout the summer the Getty will be holding an outdoor concert featuring “your soon to be favorite band” and DJ sets to open and close the night. There will also be a cash bar in case you want to get your drink on. This week’s band is the Brooklyn based trio, Chairlift!

W Poolside Screenings – Enjoy movies under the stars at the W Hotel in Westwood! If you’ve never been to the W, it’s pretty spectacular. Their pool area features private cabanas and beautiful poolside chairs that you can lounge on while sipping cocktails (if your wallet allows it) and enjoying the movie.
