You may want to consider checking out Downtown Pasadena’s newest hotspot , Noor Restaurant & Ballroom. Noor features a unique menu of Mediterranean cuisine made with fresh, localy grown ingredients. The official grand opening party features complimentary champagne and hors d’oeuvres, specially prepared by four-star Chef Patrick Ramsey.  There will be live entertainment by the Afro Cuban-Jazz-Brazilian group Embellishment Music Project and celebrity DJ, Kamakaze.

The only thing I love more than grand opening parties is complimentary champagne!

Echo Park PDA (Public displays of ART) – This is kind of like an art walk but instead of bouncing from gallery to gallery the art will be on on display in driveways and hanging from fences. Instead of bringing the public to the art, they’re bringing the art out into public! From 12pm-6pm starting at the corner of Echo Park Ave. and Sunset Blvd. (where you can pick up a map) you can explore the neighborhood all the while enjoying driveway drive-ins, garage band concerts in garages, Chain link fence galleries, and many other creative public displays of art.

Hawaii at the Grove – Every Saturday in February from 12pm-7pm The Grove is going to be turned into a Hawaiian paradise with food, drinks, music, and lots of activities to keep you busy! (Hula lessons, anyone?) Each weekend they’ll be focusing on a different Island and  this weekend they kick it off with Kaua’i! Relax to Hawaiian music performed by Kaua’i's own Nick Castillo and the graceful hula of one of the island’s top talents, Noelani Kau’i. Enjoy delicious Kaua’i Coffee and explore the variety of Kaua’i Made products on display.

Fallen Fruit’s Tree Giveaway - Fallen Fruit is celebrating their upcoming EATLACMA exhibit by giving away fruit trees. Their whole deal is the belief that fruit should be communal so they’re sharing fruit trees with people in the hopes that they’ll plant them in a place where everyone can enjoy them! They’ll be handing out saplings Saturday at the Watts Towers Arts Center & Charles Mingus Youth Arts Center and on Sunday at LACMA both starting at 12pm. Get there early to make sure you get a tree!

Candy Land Lolita Tea Party – Lord Licorice, there’s candy everywhere! Royal/T gets transformed into a candy-themed haven this Saturday. Enjoy live music, a Lolita fashion show, raffles, cupcakes & cotton candy, and a LIFE-SIZE CANDY LAND GAME BOARD. Oh yes. There will also be a Candy Land high tea, but you must RSVP for this and it does cost extra. But it is free to attend and partake in the other fun activities!

Scott Warren Acoustic Show - Enjoy a free performance by this talented singer-songwriter at Cinema Bar in Culver City. Cathie, an LA Decostified reader sent us the link to his website and told us about the show. I ended up leaving the site up for over an hour to keep listening to his music in the background (there’s a great selection of songs when you leave up the homepage). Thanks Cathie!

Robot Chicken On Wheels – I was going to go into a whole dream sequence where you are roller skating with Seth Green but then you trip and fall and get so humiliated. But then it wasn’t that funny because I don’t think people develop crushes on Seth Green. I could be wrong…  Anyways, the Robot Chicken on Wheels tour hits Los Angeles (well, Northridge) for one day only this Saturday night. Seth Green, Breckin Meyer, and Matthew Senreich will be there skating along with you and the Gym Class Heroes will be playing a live set at the rink too! Admission is free but we can only imagine this will be extremely popular (have you seen the show? It’s hilaaarious!) so get there early. In fact, buy one of their DVDs and bring it with you and they’ll even let you in an hour early!

Fallen Fruit’s Public Fruit Jam - Bring some fruit, make some jam, and follow it up by jammin’ the night away! Yep, that pretty much sums it up.

Cirque at the Grove - Join The Grove in celebrating 25 years of Cirque Du Soleil all Sunday afternoon (12pm-5pm)! There will be performances from all six Las Vegas Cirque Du Soleil productions, including: Mystère, O, Zumanity, KĀ, The Beatles Love, and Criss Angel Believe. If you haven’t seen any of these shows, or heck even if you have, you should definitely attend this event. It is a real treat that they’ve decided to do these pieces free of charge so that everyone can enjoy the beautiful performances!

Mystery Biking & Party -  Bring your friends and your bikes for this mystery charity bike ride! There will be stops along the way (Monster & Honest Tea will also be there), prizes, contests, & more! Follow it up with the after-party, where $5 can get you an open bar, live music, and great company.
Cost: FREE or $5 (but remember to RSVP for the party)

For Biking:
This FREE mystery group bike ride will begin at Orange 20 Bikes on Melrose. There you will see a flatbed truck and he will be your guide for the mystery ride, which will supposedly travel from Silverlake to Downtown. The best part? You are going to be entertained throughout the trip because there will be live performances on the back of the truck throughout your ride! They will also have raffles, prizes, games, and clues for the secret after party location.

For Partying:
The after party location has not been released and will not be released until the day of the race (aka Sunday). It is highly recommended that you RSVP to save a few bucks. Admission is $5 if you RSVP in advance, and $10 at the door. The party will have an OPEN BAR, live music, giveaways, raffles, races, and so much more! If you RSVP, they will be emailing you the party location once it is released and you can pay your $5 at the door. 

I don’t have a bike, but I’m pretty sure Paul is going to be participating in the mystery bike ride. So comment here or email us if you plan on going too and you guys can meet up and be friends! As for the after party, you know there is no way we’re missing out on that action…

To make things better, G-Love & Special Sauce and Brett Dennen will be joining Jason Mraz on stage as special guests. And hey, it’s LA, so I wouldn’t be too surprised if Colbie Caillat made an appearance to sing Lucky!

Figures we’re out of town for the one dance style I was super psyched to learn. Oh well, they’re having New York Hustle/Disco Night at the end of the month (7/24), and that sounds equally exciting!
